  • That isis shit was funny lmao

  • Gotta agree with Sandra Oh. They always call it taking risks and pushing boundaries, yet it's always the most tired, unoriginal jokes. It's nothing you haven't heard before, it's the same jokes you heard in the lunchroom in middle school. It's lazy comedy to me.

  • I LOLed at White Savior award.

  • Rain Wilson kinda saved that lol

  • Cancel culture will only succeed in making people better at hiding their skeletons. People will still exist in all good and awful varieties, we just won't know. Instead of rewarding individuals that might have grown through change and experience, we will blacklist them and be left with the best of people (of which there are few) and the very best of liars.

  • Wow a comic made jokes. I’m shocked

  • Gillis just needs to apologize to everyone for NOT being funny at all and pursue a career as a plumber.

  • Wishing the GM workers all the best with their strike and hope that the union and company come to a fair and reasonable agreement soon. The grocery chain I work for when on strike earlier in the year for 11 days. Lot of us got a little kick out it for a day or so, but around day three when no end of was in sight it lost it's novelty REAL QUICK. Wouldn't wish that kind of stress and uncertainty on my worst enemy. Hopefully they come to a fair agreement ASAP!

  • Who listens to anti-vaxxer Rob Schneider?

  • Who thinks the pharmaceutical industry has people's best interest at heart?

  • I'm all for more diversity in any sphere of entertainment but can we have a brown/black woman or whoever from a minority that can actually make jokes? From all her jokes throughout the years, the only thing I've learnt about Lilly Singhs is that she's brown. Which is fine if she wants to make it as her comedian career, but then she should not complain that "uwu IT-tvs salary top 10 doesn't have women on the list boo boo". As a potential audience, I would not be watching her.

  • Not sure why it is okay for a colored person to say shit about white people, but the moment a white person says anything about a colored person it becomes a witch hunt. The sad thing is most of the time everyone thinks it is okay for colored people or the people that are offended for them, to attack anyone they find "racist" in their opinion. This shit is getting out of hand. There is someone that everyone has a prejudice to because of their race, gender or religion, and attacking people over what you think is right in your subjective opinion makes you just as bad as the people you claim to hate so much.

  • 2019 will go down as the year where people are sensitive and moist

  • “Pushing boundaries” = repeating the edgy jokes the 12 year old kids at the back of the school bus said since forever. Please.

  • That lily Singh show seems racist af. Not really into it.

  • you love him, right now!

  • Lilly = racist. Am I doing the comment/twitter thing right?

  • You are only racist if you are white and straight.

  • Lilly u aint funny sweetie

  • This is why Dave Chappelle and Bill Burr. Are so needed in today's comedians era.

  • Tbh I HIGHLY doubt she’ll get a season 2

  • I’m Latino and I hate it when people act like being born brown is an accomplishment it’s so patronizing and obnoxious

  • please help the 14 girls who have come out about @onision #onision @coolguykai #coolguykai (look at twitter with these hashtags) and the child grooming these two monsters did with these poor girls.

  • I don't know who is going to see this but jokes are not to make you think when i here a joke by some guy on the stage about how he fucked up talking to some girl at a bar as long as it's funny i like it comedy is meant to be funny not put me an English class where i am supposed to deconstruct his words and thoughts so i get a good grade it meant to make me laugh and laugh every time I think of it

  • Shane gillis is waaaay too funny for snl anyways

  • I love the award bit. Every time.

  • Fun fact, racism can happen against any race from any race. If you wanna make a joke about white stereotypes, similar to the one about brown people liking the free admission, then go for it. But directly saying white people are scared because you're not white is just straight up racist lol. I'm liberal as they come and that crosses a line going backwards

  • I’m still waiting for when we judge people on who they are and the content of their character and not the color of their skin, sexual identity, and gender. We’ve ran so far, yet haven’t taken a single step forward.

  • Literally 90% of being a comedian is reading the room. People are less ignorant now so those types of remarks don't resonate with them anymore. Be clever and I didn't see the humour? Just a gross conversation

  • I used to be a big fan of Lilly Singh, but I drifted away from her because her jokes seemed to become more and more forced, forced as in a politically correct way, which isn't bad. Making fun of men and white people doesn't affect me. But it seems she just forces out these jokes as a way to mock and taunt "the other side", instead of her just saying her thoughts. I don't know, maybe it's just me.

  • If anyone pays money to see KSI and Logan Paul "fight" I want you to know that you wasted your money. You could have done anything else with that money. but you did this... congratulations, you played yourself.

  • SNL is full of cowards, Comedy is Dead.

  • I thought lily did amazing. Were there cringy moments? Sure. But I think she’s going to be amazing. Her talking about color is amazing. She should. Everyone else is only talking about her color... and why can’t she? I’m excited for her and will be watching it.

  • White male: *does some racist shit* Internet: WTF OMG FIRE HIM Late night: *fires him* Brown female: *does some racist shit* Internet: ew.... but ehhhh Late night: CHECK OUT OUR LATEST STAR!!!!!

  • I respect peoples who not racism

  • As a mixed woman, i loved Lilly's premiere But i also know the premier was for me. Women of color where the demographic for this so its not gonna hit the same way for anyone else. It probably hit even harder for Indian women than it did for me It was a celebration and an introduction and we'll see other stuff as it goes on

  • The early episodes of any new show should set the theme and basic concept for the show as a whole. A Little Late apparently wants their theme and general concept to be "a talk show where the host isn't a white guy". Doesn't seem like the best plan but if they feel they can roll with it then more power to them.

  • Lilly is in the perfect position. If she succeeds, then she can keep dumping on white people and males because you can't be sexist or racist if you are a female minority. If she fails, she can just blame it on white men.

  • The Helmet moment... I died!

  • Phil, you forgot to talk about how Tool dethroned Taylor swift with their newest album Fear Inoculum. Maynard shared a meme that was hilarious!

  • I find jokes or punchlines based entirely on race aren’t even offensive, just boring. There’s nothing particularly funny about tired dead stereotypes, nothing original about it, and nothing creative about it.

  • I hope they give Lilly the freedom to just be Lilly and not be a programmed “not white” version of herself. Worked for Oprah....

  • Lilly Singh: ahhhhhhh, the old "you can't be racist if you say it towards white people" virtue.

  • yeah but usually people give their opinions on the beginning of a show - giving their opinon and if they are disappointed they usually state so and hope for a change in the future but uhh in reserving yourself from giving an opinion just makes me think that its bad as well because if it wasnt why would you hold back on giving an opinion?

  • Why is it only white people getting in trouble for racism? If you look at hate crimes, per capita they are the most underrepresented racial group. I guess white-guilt is still profitable. Black comics make jokes on white and other races almost every stand-up routine. Ironically this persecution of only whites IS racist.

  • My problem with "cancel culture" is how far back is too far back? Cause if you go back far enough everything was racist everything was homophobic and everything was sexist. It's all bullshit and honestly I just don't care anymore lol

  • Shane Gillis said those things in what is essentially casual conversation... I don't think you can use the guise of "joke" for that.

  • There are many white people who use racial slurs as terms of endearment or just a way to be street not politically correct. Nobody likes to be talked about as a monolith but some stupid racial stereotypes are funny because there is a hint of truth. If you are offended by racial slurs its just really shows how soft you are and you believe those stupid stereotypes. I was born muslim but white. It can be overwhelming when people like sam harris attack islam but at the end of the day I don't care because sam harris is a shmuck and that doesn't represent me.

  • Stop passing off racism and homophobia as pushing the boundaries. You’re not funny you’re disgusting.

  • Wow an unfunny IT-tvsr who's whole channel is literally built on " oh I'm not white ahah ahah" now she's doing unfunny to where she says " oh I'm not white ahaha"

  • Good good...Andrew Yang is cool. Lol maybe too cool for us.

  • I mean there is not much to discuss about Lily, she has *HORRIBLE* delivery, none of her original comedy material was ever any good and seeing the first episode i can safely say that there are no good writers working on the show She is simply a talentless wannabe comedian, thinking that her late night show will ever even come close to being anything other then bad is delusional

  • Gillis didn't seem funny in those podcasts, more like a cringey roommate.

  • I hate unions

  • Comedy is fine, but that was just distasteful and racist. That was not pushing, that is you VENTING your real feelings.

  • Doing an article on singh. What race and sexual preference is she? Can’t find it in her content.

  • As a person of color, it was just really corny. I guess this is made for self-hating whites

  • That intro was better than perfect.

  • That is such a BS apology, He isn't making jokes when he said those racist of homophobic things. Dave Chappelle says offensive thing but he is making points or telling jokes. H

  • Can I say that people would constantly ask me if I ate dogs in high school because I'm Chinese and then would follow it up with, "it was just a joke"? When something doesn't have a punchline and is just spoken with the intent to put someone of colour in a box, it's racism.

  • Was hoping you would talk about the new Brett kavinaw allegations

  • did Liza call Phil "fucboi"????? OMG

  • I don't know who Shane Gillis is, but this is the world we live in without the great George Carlin...RIP.

  • I think Lilly will just get better and better ❤️

  • Racism is subjective. What one person finds offensive, another finds funny. Which is why the country is doomed to another civil war.

  • Trevor Noah: Am I a joke to you?

  • Fuck really GM you really let me down my husband just bought the AT4 too. Luckily I’m a Ford gal the Ford Explorer be ballin!

  • I never knew who Gillis was beforehand... looks like they just vaulted another racist loudmouth to the forefront. He'll have a billion podcast invites and a solid right leaning career if he leans in. smh

  • Gillis getting fired is a no-brainer. I'm not against using racial slurs or sexuality jabs in comedy -- Dave Chappelle does it hilariously...but Dave's jokes don't feel like they're coming from a place of hate unlike Gillis. Gillis just seems racist and homophobic.

  • Snl hasnt been funny for a long time imo

  • Tbh I'm surprised liberal snl even thought about hiring him

  • Boohoo, GM workers. Come back when you experience an Oshawa.

  • Many comedians teeter on the edge of socially acceptable, but Gillis wasn’t even joking. His comments didn’t sound like joke but legitimate racism. I never liked cancel culture, but I believe this case is one where people have a legitimate case.

  • In the beginning it's about: 1. Yadada 3. Something else. What happened to 2, Phil. WHAT HAPPENED TO 2?!?

  • The guy was joking in the podcasts. Yes it was in conversation form but it was sarcastic, and you can tell he was going far with the language for the laughs. Its insane that people are so sensitive these days. Literally cannot make a joke or say something without an entire internet group going crazy.

  • bts isnt kpop...... 🤦‍♀️

  • Shane Gillis makes me sick. They were not risky jokes. It sounds like he’s just racist. Should he be canceled? No. But should he have been fired? Yeah. Cause snl is trying to improve and be more for everyone not just white people and I don’t see Shane thinking he should improve.

  • I understand that comedians do need to say things that push boundaries and be provocative. Comedy is sort of supposed to offend. Shane's comments weren't really *funny* at all. He just said racial slurs and laughed. Like... what's the joke?

  • Don’t think Lilly Singh is any different than the existing uncreative unfunny late night shows. So if her show flops and they cancel it I expect all the others to be cancelled as well

  • Why does she think we care that she's Indian

  • I mean...Shane Gillis gets cancelled for the exact same reasons that Lilly Singh gets a show???

  • show starts off by talking about hos making racist jokes is bad. show ends with the new late night host making raceist jokes against white people. I dont feel right about this :/

  • Theres nothing wrong with racism... As long as its towards white people...

  • I want Arsenio back....

  • If it's one thing we learned, it's that people absolutely LOVE digging into people's past to destroy them in any way possible. It's practically a business, if not social status business. Boy oh boy do I hope every single person out there doing that or indirectly supporting that is also peachy clean in every single aspect of life throughout their entire life :)

  • late night shows are booty ass

  • With the SNL, Rob Schneider bit, folks need to not conflate racism with comedy. Stereotypes, like what SNL, Rob and many other comedians, especially Dave Chapelle's complete career, deal in are completely up for grabs. It's completely available to poke fun at them, talk about them, and wonder at why so many embrace those said stereotypes if their actually perceived as a problem. They're based on a lot of reality and real anecdotal evidence. Racism, however, is not even remotely the same thing. Stereotypes don't profess an immoral belief of superiority, racism does. You can have positive and negative stereotypes: Asians are good at math-Blacks tend to have less father-figures. But there is only negative racism.

  • Hmm I’m guessing I know the punchline to 90 percent of the little late jokes. Probably a pass for me.

  • lmao at trump calling anyone out for sticking to a story that is a very big lie.

  • Lily Singh is the only late night host that can make Jimmy Fallon look good

  • What a lame world where we can’t even make fun of each other anymore

  • Spade made a great point...it sucks he was hired then his entire past was dredged up for our critisim... Shane made some cruel and racist statements I think were veiled under as jokes...if they truly were jokes and he doesnt believe anything that he said on his podcast then I see no reason to fire him otherwise I dislike spreading hate

  • Andrew Yang's response was very... presidential LOL. Such a contrast to our current situation. Anyone interested in him can go to Yang2020 . com he has over 100 policies and is the most progressive and non-bs candidate. Not left, not right, forward. Always love the non-bs news Phil!

  • Yang2020.com/policies

  • I don’t know what that ch word he used even was

  • And that is why i dont make jokes on the internet anymore because I love offensive and insult humor. The internet is a great place but it's too overly sensitive for people who have the same tastes as I do especially when called out as "racist/homophobic/xenophobic" etc. Although arguably, some "jokes" are really made with intent to be actually offensive against something and that imo would be the downside of loving offensive humor.

  • that dude deleted his youtube videos for nothing what a waste of money lol

  • It's really interesting how Phil will stand behind Dave Chappelle against his racist remarks saying that it's a comedians job to make people feel uncomfortable but when it's a WHITE comedian, it's intolerable and poor taste. Just an observation.

  • Wait... Those podcasts were live on IT-tvs until he deleted them?!

  • Oh my god i love you phil. I have to gif that "white savior" bit hahah
